I have been listening to Tears for Fears today because somehow this band has slipped me by over the years, and I was floored by the lyrical abilities of this band today.

Tears for Fears was, of course, part of the New British Wave of music that predated huge acts like Oasis and Coldplay. They were contemporary with earlier bands like Spandau Ballet, Duran Duran and early Depeche Mode. So, this is eighties, definitely.

The band consists of Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith, and was formed in 1981. Initially they were a synth-group, but they slipped into rock and then achieved commercial success.
