I was reading the blogs I follow on this late night, and here I found the first part of this little series that made me go ‘Wow!’. I watched all of them, and they’re amazing. They show how simple numbers appear in the spirals and angles built into plants and natural structures.

Mark often tries to show me that maths is beautiful; that the patterns of maths are beautiful, and that they’re everywhere. I have often thought that art is maths. What is music but the timed sequence of noise at precise frequencies? What is painting but visualising geometry? I’ve never seen the separation between maths, art and nature. Maybe that comes from being the son of a scientist and accountant, and being married to a wannabe scientist.
